First things first…Kitchen Staples

Here is a list of things I always have available in my kitchen:

Pantry:

  • Flour: all-purpose, whole wheat
  • Sugar: white, brown, confectioners
  • Rolled oats
  • Grits (cause I’m from South Carolina)
  • Brown rice
  • Baking powder
  • Baking soda
  • Whole wheat pasta
  • Couscous or Quinoa
  • Non-stick spray
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Soy sauce
  • Syrup
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Honey
  • Vanilla extract
  • Peanut butter
  • Potatoes

Fridge/Freezer:

  • Skim or 1% milk
  • Eggs
  • Margarine
  • Shredded cheese – cheddar and mozzerella
  • Plain low-fat/fat-free Greek yogurt
  • Condiments
  • Salsa
  • Spring Mix or Spinach
  • Vegetables – I always have tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, bell peppers, avocados
  • Fruit – what’s in season
  • Chicken broth
  • Tortillas (corn or flour)

Seasonings:

  • Black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Italian seasoning
  • Parsley
  • Basil
  • Oregano
  • Cinnamon
  • Thyme
  • Rosemary
  • Chili powder
